Walking Day 1950s

I inherited a collection of photos from my cousins Marjory Hill Nuttall and Albert Hartley and I have been sorting through them. A number relate to St Marks. This one is a walk in the 1950s, my cousin is carrying the cross, he was scout master at St Marks too - Albert Hartley.
Hi David,
I'm sure it is Kenneth France behind Albert Hartley. The church wardens on each side of Eric Chapman are Tom Gent (left on photo) and William Wolstenholme. Behind Tom Gent is Lily Graham. In the background:- Head Choirboy - Roy Pemberton (with medal). Guide's Mistress Miss. Twigley and behind is Joyce Robinson.

The shop to the right of Rev Eric Chapman (Empire Food Stores) was a dual shop - butcher's at one side and grocer's at the other side. It was owned by Edna and Fred Taylor who lived in Junction Road, Deane, and my mother, Elsie Gregory, was their assistant and worked there for many years. The photo is taken on Fletcher Street and to the left of the shop was a ginnel about 2ft wide which was a short cut to back Fletcher Street and well used by everyone.
