The Church prior to demolition 1973

When they pulled the church down Gordon and I saw lots and lots of bricks with peoples names on they must have donated them.
Lloyd Egerton Class of 1952
The Church Tower was built in 1902, these bricks will probably have come from the Tower, the Tower was built as a memorial to the Rev Doman who died in 1900, so the names on the bricks would be of those who donated to the cost of building the Tower. See Tower Fund
David site author Class of 1966
We often had a competition throwing a tennis ball over the church tower. there were balls stuck in the slits at the top for years.
Leonard Bellis Class of 1935
I remember Mr Keith Hayes saying to us on those days when snow covered the ground, that he would give anyone 'two bob' who could get a snow ball dead centre in the round centre piece just above the two front arch windows, no one ever did.
William Settle Class of ?
