Foundry St

Updated December 21, 2016 9:04 PM

Looks like someone has slipped up with the spelling on the new sign

1948 August 14th It is 11 years since the last inspection of market properties in Bolton, and since that time many complaints have been made regarding the public abattoir in Foundry St. This week members of the Markets Committee - which, incidentally, includes two butchers - had an opportunity during the annual inspection to see the buildings. The general opinion was that 'It is just not good enough'. The abattoir was opened in 1877, but it has not been possible to take active steps in the building of a new abattoir because of the uncertainty of the Government's post-war plans in connexion with the livestock industry.
