Norman St

Updated December 22, 2016 1:24 PM

1948 July 24th
Thousands who play bowls on greens all over the country and abroad, are using bowls manufactured in Bolton. The firm of Peter Boardman and Sons, which was founded in Norman St. almost 100 years ago, is now situated in Rupert St, and Mr Peter Boardman, grandson of founder Mr John Boardman, is still putting in many hours' work there renovating woods which look beyond repair, and manufacturing new ones. In 1939 Mr Boardman could turn out a new pair of bowls and jack for 47s. Present-day cost is five guineas for the bowls alone.
