Shaw St

Photo from my album

Map showing 17 Shaw St where the family Sharples lived

Donkey Stone Maker, John Sharples with (from left) Elizabeth Booth (sister-in-law), Margaret Alice (wife) and Frances Latham (sister) in his back yard at Shaw Street, Bolton
The 'factory' was in full production from early 1900s, right up to the outbreak of the Second World War.
Bolton housewives preferred white donkey stones and woe betide any woman who didn’t donkey stone her front step.
John Sharples was my Great Grandfather.
Linda Evans nee Booth
