David Hendry Class of 1965, but in actual fact he left St Marks early in 1959
David and his brother John lived in John Taylor St during their short stay at St Marks.

One day, when me and our John were on our way to school, I was crying because I was cold. I should have been wearing thick shoes, big coat and gloves only I didn't have any. I was so cold – it was that kind of cold that makes your bones hurt. As we walked along an old lady (she was probably about 35 or 40 but I was only four so she was old) saw me crying. She stopped us both and asked why I was crying. I told her that I was cold and she did the kindest thing – she stopped there and rubbed my cold hands between her warm hands until I was warm. Funny the things you remember isn't it?
