1972 Floodwaters will engulf a new stretch of parkland in Great Lever.
But Bolton Corporation experts are not worried - they have planned it
that way. A 'flood plain' will deliberately be created at a cost of
£115,000 by filling in old Pike Mill lodge and by culverting Tanner
Hole Brook. The reclaimed land will be landscaped and given trees, walkways
and seats, and serve as an attractive open space. But just occasionally
it will disappear under storm waters.
