Prospect Mills

Prospect Building

Only the building remains standing today

Looking down Worcester st you can see the corner of Mill No1 and across Halliwell Rd there were three mills originally and one other Building around Prospect St.

Timeline

1864 Mill No1 built.

1877 Mill No2 built.

1884 Barlow and Jones Ltd.

1890 Mill No3 built.

1900 Barlow and Jones Ltd also at Albert and Cobden Mills and Malmsey

1950 Barlow and Jones Ltd also at Albert, Cobden and Egyptian Mills, and Eagley Croft.

1960 Barlow and Jones Ltd also at Albert, Falcon and Union (Vernon) Mills.

1967 Carrington and Dewhurst (trading as Barlow and Jones)

1968 Mills No1 and No3 demolished

1970s No2 Mill Barlow and Jones, Prospect Mill (Carrington Viyella Yarns Ltd)

1985 No1, 3 site cleared

No2 Mill demolished unknown date

2007 only the 4 storey building that was once connected to Mill No2 with a walkway still survives today
