1853 Thomas Gardner Horridge

1872 November 20th
We learn with regret of the death on Sunday, at his residence, 'The Raikes', of Thomas Gardiner Horridge, Esq. The deceased was one of the oldest and most extensive bleachers in the district, and for very many years has been an employer of labour. The deceased gentleman was rather retiring in disposition, on many occasions refusing public honour, preferring simply to be looked up to in the rural township of Great Lever, and to the best interests of which he has materially contributed. The funeral took place on Thursday, and was of a private character, the body being conveyed in a hearse, drawn by four horses, following which were a carriage, two mourning coaches, and several private carriages.
